Description
Letters, Numbers and Sounds Board
Measuring 195mm x 195mm, this board can be used for so much in Infants.
Firstly it is a number line to 10 and can be use for adding 2 sets or 3 sets. If you give a child a sum such as 4 + 3, they put in 4 red pegs and 3 green pegs and can see that the total is 7. Record.
Add 3 sets e.g. 3+2+4=?, the child inserts, 3 yellow + 2 red + 4 blue and finds the answer as 9. Use for subtraction e.g. what is 7 – 4, put in 7 red and take back out 4 and find that there are 3 left.
Ideal for taking a CPA approach to number i.e. concrete, to pictorial and then to abstract
Use for Phonics + Sounds, so many ways to use it:
- Sing a phonic song and as the children sing, they place a peg in the corresponding grapheme / letter. This helps with establishing the GPC i.e. the grapheme / phoneme correspondence.
- Say three words in a row and the children must mark the sound that they hear at the beginning of each word e.g. balloon, bell, ball – peg b.
- Say a sound and the children must mark the corresponding grapheme.
- Mark the last sound you hear in these words – man, pan, fan – peg n.
Booklet of ideas included.
